Overview
All of the workshop software is included on the USB flash drives handed out to participants. We support two platforms: Mac OS X and Ubuntu Linux.
Here are instructions for installing the workshop applications on each platform using the USB flash drive.
Windows
For those participants with Windows notebooks or laptop computers, you will be required to install our customized Ubuntu Linux distribution so that you will be able to work in a UNIX environment. Instructions for doing that can
be found in the Ubuntu Linux section.
Mac OS X
For those participants running Mac OS X, we created a simple procedure for
installing the workshop applications and activity files on your computer.
- On the USB flash drive under Install, browse to the Mac folder.
- Then, simply double-click on the install file (it may also appear as install.command).
The workshop files will be extracted to your home directory (~/wcg_oct2011) and the command line applications will be automatically placed on your PATH so that they can be run from any location.
